Milan have an option to extend his stay at the club for one more season if they finish in the top four this term and Mandzukic seems set to get the go ahead against the Biancocelesti tonight.

“Mandzukic’s extension is linked to some conditions,” his agent Giovanni Branchini told Sky Sport Italia in March.

“At the end of the season, we will decide whether to stay or make a different choice.”

The 34-year-old left Juventus in January 2020 but returned to Milan after six months at Al-Duhail in Qatar Stars League.

The former Bianconero has only started one game since his move to Milan, against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League.

In Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s absence and after having played 37 minutes in the last two games, the veteran could be paired with compatriot Ante Rebic up front against the Aquile tonight.

All eyes are on Mandzukic’s performance tonight, as a muscle injury has prevented him from contributing as expected until now.
