Serie A is still on a break for the 2022 World Cup and the fixtures will resume from January 4, so teams are working to keep their fitness levels up with a series of friendly matches.

The Viola took part in the International Cup in Bucharest, where one day saw two matches played, lasting 60 minutes each.

Vincenzo Italiano’s men were triumphant, beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 with goals from Rolando Mandragora and Giacomo Bonaventura, then disposing of hosts Rapid Bucharest 3-0 with Christian Kouame and a Marco Benassi brace.

Salernitana had a luxury trip to Turkey, succumbing 3-0 to Fenerbahce with Kahveci, King and Michy Batshuayi on target.

They were missing several players, including Pasquale Mazzocchi, Luigi Sepe, Boulaye Dia, Krzysztof Piatek and Dylan Bronn.

Monza lost 1-0 away to Swiss side Lugano in their first winter friendly, decided by Bottani’s screamer on the volley, while Christian Gytkjaer hit the upright.
