Florence Mayor Dario Nardella reveals Fiorentina won’t play at Stadio Franchi for two years starting from 2024 to allow the stadium’s refurbishment.
Plans for the Franchi’s restyling are underway and works are expected to begin at the end of the season.
“We already spoke to Fiorentina who will play outside the Stadio Franchi for two years, from the middle of 2024 until mid-2026,” Nardella told reporters on Tuesday.
“Works will begin this summer, but machines for the most cumbersome works will be placed in December. Fiorentina will be able to play at the Franchi for the first six months of 2024, I already spoke about it with [Fiorentina director] Joe Barone after the match against Lecce.”
It is still unclear where Fiorentina will play during the two years starting in mid-2024.
