Fiorentina director Nicolas Burdisso assures they ‘intend to renew Dusan Vlahovic’s contract’ regardless of interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid.

The 21-year-old striker is starting in tonight’s Coppa Italia First Round tie against Cosenza at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

His contract runs to June 2023 and negotiations continue for an extension, despite a reported bidding war breaking out between Atletico Madrid and Spurs.

“Our intention is to renew Vlahovic’s contract,” technical director Burdisso told Italia 1.

“That’s what the other directors said too, it’s what the coach and the fans all want. The most important thing for us is that he’s on the field today.”

It has been reported that the offers have reached €60m including bonuses, which are edging closer to the €70m release clause Fiorentina wanted to put into the new deal.

There is another Viola player in the headlines who is in the starting XI tonight, Nikola Milenkovic, as reports emerge that West Ham United have abandoned talks, to be replaced by Tottenham.

“He is a resource for us. Mentally, he is focused just like everyone else.”

Milenkovic is on the market because the centre-back’s current deal is running down at the end of the season.
