Fiorentina already have one of Morocco’s World Cup stars and are in negotiations for another, but Sampdoria raise the asking price for Abdelhamid Sabiri to €15m.

They beat Portugal this afternoon to become the first ever African side to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup, where they will face either France or England.

Sabiri remained on the bench, having played in the previous four games of the tournament in Qatar, though he saw a goal chalked off by a deflection in the 2-0 victory over Belgium.

According to La Nazione, Fiorentina have been in talks with Sampdoria for creative midfielder Sabiri for some time, but his performances for Morocco have boosted the price-tag.

The Viola are only prepared to pay €10m, whereas Samp are now asking for €15m.

It is possible that Fiorentina could lower that cost by including Szymon Zurkowski into the mix.

A move would mean a reunion at the Stadio Artemio Franchi with Morocco star Amrabat, who already plays for Vincenzo Italiano’s side.
