Fiorentina ultras have released a lengthy statement bitterly criticising ‘coward’ Dusan Vlahovic, President Rocco Commisso and director Joe Barone. ‘You do deals with the ultimate evil that until the other day you fought against.’

The sale was completed yesterday, on the striker’s 22nd birthday, for €70m plus up to €10m in performance-related bonuses.

This is the figure the Viola had been asking for, but Vlahovic rejected every other proposal from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and more, wanting only Juventus.

Having refused to sign the new contract, he had Fiorentina over a barrel, but the fans representing the Curva Fiesole group released a statement slamming everyone involved in the whole situation.

“So it’s the usual, another small man without balls, without honour and without respect who goes to a club with no identity or sense of belonging,” read the ultras open letter.

“Another ownership that after expressing its love for the Viola people, does what all their predecessors did: sell our best players to our historic rivals. We’re no longer surprised by anything and certainly won’t tear our hair out at losing the latest buffoon.”

The statement took particular aim at President Commisso, after a banner appeared on the Ponte Vecchio yesterday depicting the patron as the Joker character from Batman.

Commisso gave several interviews in recent months attacking Juventus and Inter for their Financial Fair Play approaches to debt and postponed salary payments, wondering why they were not penalised for running at a massive loss.

“Dear President, what did they tell you in order to convince you to do such a thing? You who at the Meyer hospital had told a child that you would not sell any more players to Juventus. Congratulate Barone, who must’ve been convincing to tell you who knows what to talk you into an operation that brought in money, but made you lose face in front of an entire city.

“How is it possible that you decided to do deals with the ultimate evil that until the other day you fought against? We thought, with pride, that we’d left behind the dark period of sales for profit and deals with they who shall not be named, only to go straight back into it.

“A city that had totally embraced your battles and would’ve continued to embrace you in future, but now feels abandoned and betrayed.”

The statement mentioned ‘scars that have never healed,’ as the bitter rivalry with Juve goes back to the sales of Roberto Baggio, then stirred up again with Federico Chiesa.

The Curva Fiesole did make clear they were not behind the Joker banner and did not particularly approve of it, blaming instead those who ‘convinced’ Commisso to sell Vlahovic to Juventus.

“We are not prepared to watch our passion be trampled on, as your transfer market people don’t seem to represent your way of approaching this adventure with us. We anxiously await your arrival, President, as the entire city needs to understand.

“Our final message is for the squad. You’ve proved that you have guts, we are with you. More battles await us and hopefully we’ll prompt some regrets for those who left in the night like a coward.”

  1. #70 mil for what could be a one season wonder is good businessp.

As commiso says viola revenue is 70m a year. That 70m can pay for the new training ground twice over, it can pay for 1/4 of a new stadium if it is to cost 350m

What do the iltras want him to do, in the summer he vlahovic is worth 50m, next Jan 25m and summer 23 …zero

  2. These ultras must be the grown men who still lives at home with their parents, no idea of running a business. These players are not slaves. This kid was going to leave, either now for 70m, or after the season for free. Stop thinking you immature people run the club.

  3. Maximum Respect!

Real human beings. Real Men with tremendous values, respect & morals.

They are Fiorentina till death comes to them, through thick & thin, right from birth until the very end.

They are the heartbeat of the club & of calcio

English football hasn’t got people like this

    These are principled people
    Maximum Pride!

Special people who stand for what is right & what they believe in, Men of Honour!

    NO CHANGING NEVER CHANGE

MUCH SUCCESS WISHED UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON FELLAS, YOU CURVA FIESOLE.

  4. Jeez! These ultras..

If you have a star striker who refuse to renew his deal with Fiorentina and reject every other proposals than Juve? Should the management just sit and wait stubbornly until he leaves for free for Juve when his contract expires or take the €75m that can be reinvested in new players, training grounds etc. It is a complete no brainer!

The current Fiorentina team is the best in many years and will continue to grow thanks to Commisso (and Italiano).

  5. Their problem is not so much that he got sold, it’s clear it’s who they sold him to. That is the problem here. He was inevitably going to be a fence jumper, it’s no surprise, but anyone but Juventus, the most hated for La Viola tifosi.

As the purity of the club, they are naturally angry.

It’s simply weakening themselves while strengthening the enemy. Juventus are struggling for goals. His goals could be the difference in the Champions League positions, depending on him being as prolific as he was in the Viola colours.

On top of that also, he jumped ship halfway through the season, abandoning the job till the end. This will hurt the team on the field, potentially costing them a European spot long overdue for their great support.

    I fully understand them

  6. @morgan, yes but he wanted no one but Juve so what was the club meant to do? Let him leave at the end next season for nothing?! Also he said he would stay to the end of this season but the club he needed to in January, so he is not abandoning the the job.
These ultras have way to much influence in what happens at the clubs. There needs to be reform and have them removed.
Anyway it’s another great signing by Juve and can’t wait to see him in the black and white.

  7. Rocco comisso is the real juventini, despite the high price, he always sell the best Florentina player… to Juve

  8. 70+ millions are real bargain that fiorentina management could not missed
This stupid bunch of people named ultras will never understand this because their mind and emotion keep provoking with the idea of ultimate evil rival, although Juve even never considered them as a rival (looking back in the history, fiorentina is not the same level as Juve)

  9. I question the intelligence of some of those Fiorentina supporters slamming Commisso. He tried desperately to keep him and it is clear ‘other people’ tied to Vlahovic made him insist on Juventus. If a person truly cared about Fiorentina, they would be applauding Commisso for getting 80 million for a player they could and WOULD HAVE lost for free after next season. Had he refused to sell him, it would have caused endless controversy the rest of this season and next and then after all of that, Vlahovic would have walked into Juventus for FREE. How do some Fiorentina supporters not understand this. Commisso has been investing loads of REAL money into the club and will continue to do so. People need to get their brains examined. Selling a player who wants to leave for that much money is a masterstroke. Fiorentina will succeed with or without the soulless Vlahovic. You’ll see.

  10. They have every right to do so their president is the first to criticise the big clubs but he’s the first to sell to the those big clubs the team’s best player.

  11. Clearly he must be a big deal for them to make a big stink. Fiorentina sells players and buys players. It’s a business. Vlahovic owes nothing to them other than contractual obligations, which he was willing to uphold. He’s not from Florence, he obviously knows he’s ready for CL, let’s go
