Fiorentina director Joe Barone trusts Luka Jovic will flourish in time, while keeping the door open for Verona midfielder Antonin Barak and Empoli’s Nedim Bajrami.

The Viola visit Empoli today at 17.30 UK time (16.30 GMT).

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from today’s four Serie A games on the LIVEBLOG.

It took just one match for Jovic to break his Serie A duck, having completed the surprise transfer from Real Madrid.

“Jovic is a player who needs time to adapt to Serie A and get some consistency,” Barone told DAZN.

“We’re convinced that he will do well in the Viola jersey.”

The Tuscans have been very active this summer to build the kind of squad that coach Vincenzo Italiano needs after finishing seventh in Serie A last season.

That process is not over yet, as there are reports Verona midfielder Barak will join Fiorentina next week, especially as he is not in the squad to face Bologna this evening, with Nedim Bajrami of Empoli as an alternative.

“We worked well to have a squad that was ready to start the season, so that work is complete. Obviously, we are also keeping a close eye on other situations.

“Bajrami is an Empoli player and Barak belongs to Verona, then we’ll see what happens. There are still a few days to finalise the transfer market.”

  1. Both are very good players – barak may be too expensive for fiorentina – valued around 25m euros – well if he goes no doubt fiorentina will be stronger
