Fiorentina to replace Mutu with Di Vaio

Reports in Italy suggest Fiorentina will try and replace Adrian Mutu with Bologna striker Marco Di Vaio before the end of the transfer window.

Last night Fiorentina released a statement expressing their intention to sue Mutu for abandoning training without justification and insubordination.

Mutu had only recently returned from a nine-month anti-doping ban and Fiorentina will need to replace him with another centre-forward.

Di Vaio has emerged as a candidate for the position although it's clear Bologna would be reluctant to let their talismanic veteran goalscorer leave.

Mihajlovic coached the 34-year-old during the 2008-09 campaign when he found the net 24 times and narrowly missed out on becoming Capocannoniere.

Asked for his opinion of Di Vaio, the Serb said: "When I was at Bologna I would go and pick him up, put him in the car and take him home so he wouldn't catch a cold."
