Fiorentina will face Real Madrid for the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy on August 23, it has been confirmed.

The match will mark 60 years since both teams contested the 1957 European Cup Final, which Madrid won 2-0 thanks to goals from Blanco legends Alfredo Di Stefano and Paco Gento.

An estimated 124,000 fans also turned out, making it the second, most-attended European Cup Final in history.

The Santiago Bernabeu Trophy is a prestigious friendly, played every year at Madrid’s stadium and in honour of its namesake, who is considered the most influential figure in the European champions’ history.

“It’s an honour for us to have been invited by Real for this historic trophy,” President Mario Cognigni told Fiorentina’s official website.

“We’re even more honoured to be able to commemorate, in this case, what surely was one of the best moments in Fiorentina’s history, the Final of 1957.”

The game will kick off at 22:45 CET (21:45 BST).
