Fiorentina will activate their €10m option to buy Argentina international defender German Pezzella, confirmed director Pantaleo Corvino.
The 26-year-old arrived on loan from Real Betis and immediately won over the Viola faithful, even contributing a goal and assist in 13 Serie A appearances.
“We are talking about a contract renewal with Davide Astori, despite the fact he still has another three years to run on his current deal,” director general Corvino told reporters at the Viola Hall of Fame.

“I don’t see why we shouldn’t activate the agreed option for Pezzella at €9.5m next summer.”
With the €0.5m cost of the season-long loan, that takes the total cost of the Pezzella operation to €10m.
“This squad has great potential that not everyone seems to realise. In addition to the old guard of Marco Sportiello, Astori, Milan Badelj and Federico Chiesa, we added new players such as Pezzella, Jordan Veretout and Marco Benassi. We hope for a bright future, although it’s still early to see if we have laid solid foundations.”
