Fiorentina striker Nicolas Gonzalez is increasingly frustrated at his on-going COVID status. ‘I’ve been positive for 18 days!’

The Argentina international had been called up for the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil, but eventually had to pull out because the latest swab again came back positive.

While most people turn negative after circa 10 days, some can retain the Coronavirus for longer, even without suffering symptoms.

“It’s incredible, I don’t understand how it’s possible that I’ve been positive for COVID for 18 days!” Gonzalez told ESPN Argentina.

“I hope to test negative soon, then I have to undergo some specific medical tests in Rome before I am allowed to resume sporting activity.

“It’s really disappointing that I can’t take part in the games with Argentina, as I feel myself to be a part of that squad.”
