Riccardo Sottil scored a spectacular curler in Fiorentina’s 3-2 Conference League semi-final win over Club Brugge, but then fractured his clavicle later in the game.
The winger cut inside and curled a right-foot finish into the far top corner just five minutes into the first leg clash at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
However, the evening ended on a sour note when he was fouled and landed badly on his shoulder.
Sottil was forced to leave the field and he was then diagnosed with a fracture of the third distal fragment in the left clavicle.
This type of injury should effectively call an end to his season, as it will require several weeks to heal.
