The World Cup is over and the bidding war for Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat begins, with reports the Fiorentina player is leaning towards Liverpool over Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.

Amrabat emerged as one of the stars of the tournament in Qatar and helped Morocco to fourth place, becoming the first African side ever to reach the semi-finals.

The 26-year-old even received personal compliments from the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, who told him he was the best midfielder in the World Cup.

According to Sportitalia, sources close to Amrabat’s entourage claim the player would prefer Liverpool for his next destination.

It remains to be seen whether that will be in January or over the summer, as Fiorentina seem adamant they are in no hurry to sell.

He was only purchased in January 2020 from Hellas Verona for €19.5m and his price-tag has since comfortably doubled.

Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid are also known to be interested in potentially signing Amrabat, who was born and raised in the Netherlands.

  1. And the pillaging of Serie A players from the EPL vultures continues unabated. If the Serie A is so bad, why do the top Euro clubs constantly shop in Italy?

  2. hes been average in serie a. makes a big mistake per game

lucky viola getting to cash in on him. no way he will repeat his countrys form in club level.

  3. @Frankie

Because they take the best from Serie A, while Serie A takes in the rubbish.

Serie A hasn’t won the CL in 12 years and the EL in 23.

And that’s why it’s considered so bad now.

Plenty of top players still in Serie A, but there isn’t one top team, unfortunately.
