Fiorentina are on the verge of selling Chile international midfielder Erick Pulgar to Flamengo, despite Sampdoria interest.

According to the latest reports in Brazil and from Sportitalia, a deal is practically done and is down to the details.

Sampdoria had tried to intercept with their own proposal, but a three-year contract is being finalised with Flamengo.

The move will be worth €2.5m and send the 28-year-old back to South America for the first time since he left Universidad Catolica in 2015.

Pulgar played for Bologna for four years, then joined Fiorentina for €12.3m in the summer of 2019.

He was loaned out to Galatasaray in January 2022, having no place in coach Vincenzo Italiano’s plans.

Fiorentina need to sell Pulgar before they can register right-back Dodo, as the Chilean is taking up a non-EU slot in the Serie A squad.

Dodo was signed from Shakhtar Donetsk for €14.5m this month, plus up to another €3.5m in performance-related bonuses.
