Fiorentina have rejected an offer from Premier League side Brentford for Argentina international Nico Gonzalez, after already turning down Leicester City interest.

There had already been suggestions in recent weeks that the Bees were making a proposal for the striker.

According to Calciomercato.com, the bid was formally presented and immediately turned down by Fiorentina.

The asking price is said to be a minimum of €40m and, although impressive, the proposal did not reach that figure.

Neither did Leicester City in January when they had offered circa €35m for the 25-year-old left-sided attacking winger.

He is under contract until June 2026 and looking forward to working with new signing Lucas Beltran, another Argentine who was snapped up from River Plate this week.

Fiorentina open their Serie A season against Genoa tomorrow and are not going to sell one of their top players this late in the day unless there is a suitable replacement lined up.
