Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso seemed confident that Nicolas Gonzalez would stay with the club but seemingly left the door open for interested clubs like Leicester City.

The Foxes reportedly submitted a €34m opening bid for the 24-year-old Argentinian winger, keen to pick up the talented forward this month. Fiorentina declined the offer, not wanting to lose Gonzalez, who is an exciting part of Vincenzo Italiano’s squad when fit.

Speaking to Italia 7 tonight, Commisso discussed the interest in Gonzalez and if he’ll stay with Fiorentina.

“He plays for Fiorentina. I believe he’ll stay. The offers mean that our players are worth it, but we have to see what we’ll do.”

Fiorentina picked up Gonzalez from VfB Stuttgart in July 2021 for around €24.5m. Since his arrival, he’s scored 13 goals and provided nine assists in 50 appearances, being an interesting and unpredictable winger for Italiano.

Leicester City are expected to hold a new round of talks with the Viola, serious about making a move for the 24-year-old this month. The Premier League side currently sit 13th in the table, recovering a little after their disastrous start to the season.
