German Pezzella is into the final year of his Fiorentina contract, so there are reports he has been offered to Cagliari.
The Argentina international just turned 30 last month and his deal with the Viola is due to expire on June 30, 2022.
Negotiations for a renewal have hit problems and he is widely expected to leave the Stadio Artemio Franchi this summer.
According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, Fiorentina want to get Pezzella’s salary off their books and director Joe Barone offered him to Cagliari.
The Sardinians could well be seeking a new experienced centre-back, as Diego Godin is considering a transfer to Besiktas.
Pezzella has been at Fiorentina since 2017, when he made the move from Real Betis for a total €10m.
He has two goals in 17 senior caps for Argentina and played most of the matches as they made their way to winning the Copa America this summer, only missing the opening fixture.
