Fiorentina announced they are not interested in Lucas Torreira, meaning Torino can avoid a bidding war for the Arsenal midfielder.

It was reported yesterday that the two Serie A sides were going head-to-head for the former Sampdoria player, which would’ve pushed the price-tag up further.

However, today Viola director Daniele Pradè assured they were not in the running.

“Torreira is an excellent player, but with the midfield we have right now, we consider that part of the squad complete,” said Pradè during a press conference.

"We are not interested in pursuing this any further."

It means Torino can have the all-clear to pursue the Uruguay international, who already worked with coach Marco Giampaolo at Sampdoria.

Arsenal paid €28.65m to sign Torreira from Samp in 2018, but he has fallen down the pecking order and is on the market.
