Fiorentina ‘not a step forward’ for Kokcu, Verona hope to keep Barak

Fiorentina target Orlun Kokcu admits he is not interested in joining the Tuscans, while Verona coach Gabriele Cioffi hopes to keep Antonin Barak at the Stadio Bentegodi.

Kokcu has been linked with a move to the Stadio Artemio Franchi and Vincenzo Italiano confirmed the club’s interest. However, the 21-year-old doesn’t seem willing to join the Viola.

“I respect them, but they are not superior to Feyenoord,” he told TRT Sport.

“I’m aware of their interest, but I don’t think it would be a step forward in my career. Fiorentina are not among the options.”

Fiorentina saw their target Giovani Lo Celse join Villarreal from Tottenham, so Hellas Verona‘s Antonin Barak is now their main transfer target in midfield.

The Tuscans will likely make an offer for the 27-year-old if they qualify for the Conference League group stage.

“The choice was clear with Simeone,” Hellas Verona coach Cioffi said at a press conference today.

“He was no longer motivated, so he was out. Antonin is in a grey zone. He is a great professional, he wasn’t fully fit when the pre-season began, but now he is recovering and at some point, sudden choices are made.”
