There is bad news for Fiorentina, as midfielder Lucas Torreira has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with Uruguay.

A statement from the Uruguayan federation confirmed two players tested positive and have been placed into isolation from their teammates.

They are named specifically as Lucas Torreira and Diego Rossi.

It means they will miss the upcoming international matches, but with travel restrictions as well as recovery time, it remains to be seen if Torreira will be available for Fiorentina’s big Serie A game against Lazio on Saturday January 5.

Torreira turns 26 next month and has made 20 appearances for the Viola this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, scoring two goals and contributing one assist.

Fiorentina are in chaos at the moment, with Dusan Vlahovic on the verge of a transfer to Juventus and Sofyan Amrabat ready to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan with option to buy for €15m.
