Fiorentina have confirmed that right back Dodo will be out for at least six months after suffering a serious knee injury.

The 24-year-old Brazilian full back was forced off the pitch in the sixth minute of the Viola’s 2-0 win over Udinese on Sunday, being replaced by teenager Michael Kayode after suffering a concerning knee injury.

Dodo joined Fiorentina last year from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth around €14m. In his debut season, he saw over 3600 minutes of action across 50 total appearances, scoring once and providing four assists.

As announced today, Dodo has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture, forcing him to undergo an operation. He’ll be out of action for at least six months as he works on his recovery.

Fiorentina will look for a replacement in the January transfer window and make some adaptions in the meantime, using Cristiano Biraghi or Lucas Martinez Quarta on the right side of the backline.
