Fiorentina intensify talks for Italy striker Retegui

Fiorentina are reportedly closing in on Italy international Mateo Retegui, as Nicolas Burdisso is in advanced negotiations with Tigres and Boca Juniors.

According to Foot Mercato, Viola director Burdisso is taking the situation in hand and personally conducting the talks in Argentina.

They see him as the ideal heir to Arthur Cabral, while Luka Jovic is also expected to move on and has been linked with Galatasaray.

The striker is technically owned by Boca Juniors, but on loan with an option to buy at Tigres, which is where his goal-scoring form caught the eye of Italy coach Roberto Mancini.

It is reported Burdisso is convincing Boca and Tigres to accept slightly less than the €15m asking price for Retegui.

The 24-year-old scored two goals in two senior caps for the Azzurri and is now hoping to continue his club career in Italy as well.

Inter had been the favourites, but seem to have turned their focus towards other targets, above all keeping Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.
