Barcelona launched a serious move for Sofyan Amrabat and whilst Fiorentina rejected their offer last month, things will likely be different in the summer.

The 26-year-old Moroccan midfielder was shot to prominence on the world stage after playing a leading role in the Atlas Lions’ historic run to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar, playing every available minute and attracting the attention of both fans and clubs across the world. A move in January looked likely, but the Viola weren’t keen to lose their newfound star.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Fiorentina had no intention of accepting Barcelona’s loan offer with a buy option attached for Amrabat, despite the pressure from the player and his entourage.

The player has since apologised and mended his relationship with the Viola, partly because of a gentleman’s agreement between him and the management.

Fiorentina are willing to listen to offers for Amrabat in the summer and give the green light to a sale, sending an important signal to interested clubs like Barcelona and Liverpool.
