The domino effect is in full swing, with reports today Fiorentina are closer to Albert Gudmundsson of Genoa, as Juventus are now favourites ahead of Atalanta for Nico Gonzalez.

We are entering the final stages of pre-season and clubs are beginning to intensify their transfer market activity.

According to Matteo Moretto and Tuttomercatoweb, new talks are expected today between the Viola and Genoa to work out the final details for Gudmundsson.

They had already made an approach in January, but this time the Grifone are more open to releasing the Iceland international on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The total cost of the operation would be around €25m plus add-ons (at least €5m guaranteed for the one-season loan).

Gudmundsson in, Nico Gonzalez out

Meanwhile, this afternoon Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà also warns that Juventus are the favourites to sign Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina.

This is because Atalanta were shaken by the news Gianluca Scamacca is out for six months with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and their priority now has to be on finding a replacement centre-forward rather than an attacking winger like the Argentine.

Fiorentina would prefer to receive only cash for Nico Gonzalez rather than a player exchange, especially if it is someone with huge wage demands like Weston McKennie.

That issue already scuppered one swap deal for Juve, when he was meant to join Aston Villa for Douglas Luiz.
