Despite 7,000 of the hardline ultras boycotting the game, enough Fiorentina fans still aimed enough racist chants at Juventus players to warrant a partial stadium ban.

The Curva Fiesole group abandoned Sunday’s Serie A match in protest at it going ahead when the region of Tuscany was struggling with flash floods that killed seven people, left hundreds homeless and more cut off without electricity.

There were large gaps in the area where they usually stand, but nonetheless that section was given a suspended sentence for a year after discriminatory chants were aimed at three Juventus players.

The most specific were aimed at Dusan Vlahovic, who returned to the Stadio Franchi as an opponent and was greeted by repeated racist insults.

The report from the officials present also noted that before kick-off, racist abuse was aimed at Moise Kean and Weston McKennie.

This is only a partial stadium ban for the Curva Fiesole section and it is just a suspended sentence, only to be activated if there are further incidents over the next year.
