Fiorentina director Daniele Pradè said everyone at the club was ‘furious’ after the 2-1 defeat to Bologna, as Marko Arnautovic’s winning goal could’ve been disallowed for a foul.

The Viola had taken the lead through Lucas Martinez-Quarta, but it was turned around with two goals in three minutes from Musa Barrow and Arnautovic.

On the winner, Densus Kasius won the ball back from Martinez-Quarta and caught the defender on the back of the head with an elbow, leading to the assist for Arnautovic.

Despite a very long check from the VAR officials, they did not suggest an on-field review.

“I am not someone who talks about these things, but if you see me in front of the cameras, it’s because I have something to say,” Pradè told DAZN.

“We are furious, positively livid. The team made mistakes today, but losing to a situation like that is unacceptable.

“VAR took three minutes to check Arnautovic’s potential offside and didn’t even look at a clear foul? That’s just horrible.

“We ask for an explanation in a very calm and polite manner, but we are worried and as a representative of the club, I must intervene.

“I want the refereeing designator to confirm tomorrow that it was a mistake, just like Igor made a mistake on the first goal.”

It is hardly the only time Serie A sides have protested this weekend at the lack of a VAR intervention, as Lecce were even angrier at two potential handball incidents in the box being ignored.

While in England the complaints tend to be that VAR is used too often, in Italy the narrative remains wanting the technology to intervene more and correct refereeing oversights.
