Fiorentina are up for sale and Saudi Arabian consortium are ready to pay €350 million to purchase the club, reports in Italy suggest.

U.S. businessman Rocco B. Commisso bought the club from the Delle Valle brothers in 2019 but has made his frustration with Italian football clear in recent weeks.

Calciomercato.com report that not only is the club up for sale but a buyer has been lined up with a Saudi Arabian consortium has been lined up to buy La Viola for €350m.

Commisso was criticised by a section of Fiorentina fans earlier this year following allowing star striker Dusan Vlahovic to join arch-rivals Juventus.

And while the American defended his role and was critical of the Serbia international and his entourage for their part in the transfer, he said earlier this year he would reflect on the future of the club.

Fiorentina’s prospective new owners would be purchasing a club potentially set up for a bright future as they returned to European football for the first time in five years.

Meanwhile, the Viola Park training centre Commisso has had built should be finished by the end of the year, the report adds, and is likely to be one of the most advance complexes in Serie A.

  1. Interesting to see pretty much a wholesale transfer of series a teams to foreign business interests… I agree with Anon to some extent… but the infusion of wealthy owners (hopefully ones with good intentions) into the league is a good thing…

  2. Yeah because the Italian mobsters that run Serie A teams are much better than the Chinese and Saudi’s, Serie A needs investment to compete with the rest of Europe, I say good for Forientina and the rest of Serie A.

  3. Be good for fiorentina to sell the club – but not to Juve – as we do take ur best players dont we 🙂

  4. Commisso is would have stayed were it not for the stupid corrupt dinosaurs that run the country and made it impossible to build a new stadium.

  5. Rocco get a hefty profit on his investment. He bought the club for 130 million USD and sold it for 350 million USD. Also get a huge amount from outgoing transfer fee. Except for the 50-60 million invested in Viola Park, he hasn’t invested anything on players and so on.

  6. I agree with Anon, I’ve made my feelings known on this matter many times, foreign owners and foreign players, why do we even consider Serie A as a national league or pride? Very sad.

  7. Agree with FranK – if the authorities were less stuck in bureaucratic corrupt approach Commisso may well have wanted to continue rebuilding La Viola.

  8. Saudis will make fiorentina competitive again they will invest heavily those who say no to Saudi or Arab investment just look at Premier league commisso hasn’t invested much on big names to compete in Europe you can’t keep on selling players

  9. As squishy as it is to have yet more Saudis buy football clubs, it really is about the money to invest into the club. I was stunned when La Viola gave up the best offense scorer this season to a competitor that they were chasing and the loss of goals gave them Europa Conference instead of Champs League that they were fighting for at the time.

Look at Newcastle. The money investered already has paid off for teh team and frankly seeing the saudi owners cheering laughing and roorting for the team in the stands is cool….
