The Fiorentina fan who tried to slap Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti and another who threw a plastic bottle at him have been given two-year stadium bans, but disconcertingly are both over 50.

The incident occurred after the final whistle of the 0-0 draw on Sunday evening, when Spalletti walked over to the area of the stands that had been insulting him throughout the game.

Instead of backing off, the supporter – now identified as a 51-year-old man from nearby town Scandicci – continued to hurl abuse and even tried to physically slap the coach.

During that conversation, another fan threw an empty plastic bottle that struck Spalletti on the head.

The person who threw it has been identified as a 79-year-old man.

Both supporters have been given a two-year DASPO order, which bans them from attending any stadium sporting event in Italy or the European Union.

Meanwhile, a third DASPO lasting three years was handed to a 38-year-old Napoli fan who was found during the pre-game search to have a 16cm knife and some fireworks hidden in his trousers.
