Giuseppe Rossi will miss at least Fiorentina’s opening League match against Roma, as he faces further tests and an extended wait on a knee injury.
The Italy striker suffered an injury almost two weeks ago during training and an initial test last week indicated an overload in the knee, with a further test set for yesterday.
Following those examinations yesterday, La Viola released a statement confirming that the player has indeed suffered an overload in his knee.

Following those examinations yesterday, La Viola released a statement confirming that the player has indeed suffered an overload in his knee.
The club also confirm that Rossi now faces a further week of physiotherapy and that he will then next week visit a specialist.
The Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that the 27-year-old’s return may be delayed for a while longer and that he could also miss Italy’s commitments with the Netherlands and with Norway, as well as Week 2’s return fixture on September 14 against Genoa.
This extended break is believed to be part of Fiorentina’s new strategy in handling the player’s issues, to try to minimise the risk of further injury or the need for another operation.
