There are reports Pietro Terracciano could move to Monza, which can give Fiorentina the opportunity to go for David De Gea.

The Viola have been unsure about Terracciano’s status all summer and linked with several other shot-stoppers, but did not have full motivation to go for them yet.

Now Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Terracciano is in negotiations for a switch to Monza and believes in their project under new coach Alessandro Nesta.

Curiously, Fiorentina are now under former Monza boss Raffaele Palladino.

Terracciano opens door for De Gea

If he did leave, then it would give the Tuscans that push they needed to really go all in for a prestigious goalkeeper this season.

The candidates include former Manchester United star De Gea, who turns 34 in November and is a free agent seeking a return to football.

He had also been linked with Monza and Genoa amongst others, but while his wage demands are too high for those clubs, Fiorentina can aim a little higher.

La Repubblica also report that the Spaniard has his sights set on the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

  1. Average-at-best GK at this point, still wants the wage of a world beater. Clubs with sense will stay well clear.
