Fiorentina contact Galatasaray star Zaniolo

While he has been linked with Juventus and Milan, Sky Sport Italia claim it is Fiorentina who directly contacted Nicolò Zaniolo for a return to Serie A from Galatasaray.

The Italy international turns 24 next month and forced his exit from Roma in February at a cost of €15m plus up to €10m in bonuses and 20 per cent of the future sell-on fee.

He had only accepted Galatasaray after the January transfer window had closed, because he rejected more lucrative proposals from the Premier League, specifically from Bournemouth.

A return to Serie A was always on the cards and Juventus were considered to be the favourites, with Milan also keeping a close eye on the situation.

However, Sky Sport Italia claim this evening that Fiorentina are the only Italian club to have made direct contact with Zaniolo’s entourage to ask about the possibility of a move to the Stadio Franchi.

It remains to be seen if he will be interested in such a move, where he would be guaranteed regular starting football, or wait for a more prestigious option to emerge.
