Fiorentina are said to be ‘dreaming’ of a potential record-breaking move to sign highly-rated attacking midfielder Tommaso Baldanzi from Empoli this summer.
The 20-year-old is valued in the region of €30m by Empoli, which, if a transfer were to go through, would be both a club-record sale and a new record transfer fee spent by La Viola.
Empoli have already broken the record for the most expensive sale in the club’s history this summer with Guglielmo Vicario’s €20m move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Fiorentina’s most expensive purchase is currently Nico Gonzalez, who cost €24.5m from Stuttgart two years ago.
While a €30m fee would usually be considered an extortionate fee to pay for Fiorentina, the club could yet part ways with a few first team players, which could bring in the necessary funds to land Baldanzi.
The aforementioned Gonzalez has been subject of interest from the Premier League and Gaetano Castrovilli could still move on despite failing a medical with Bournemouth earlier in the window.
However, the most funds would likely be raised through the sale of Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat, who is admired by his former Ajax coach and current Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag. There has also been recent interest from Liverpool and Juventus.
