Fiorentina announced that full-back Dodo has gone under the knife after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The season is largely over for the Brazilian, who sustained the serious injury during their 2-0 win away to Udinese at the weekend.

He was carried off the field by medical staff and the initial diagnosis was confirmed, there is a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament.

A statement from the club today confirms Dodo underwent surgery at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome, performed by Professor Mariani, to completely reconstruct the ligament.

This type of injury usually requires circa six months out of action.
