Fiorentina will face Hungarian team Puskas Akademia in the Europa Conference League play-offs to enter the tournament proper.

The first leg is scheduled for August 22 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, while the decider will be at the Pancho Arena in Felcsut on August 29.

They had to wait until this evening to discover who their play-off opponent would be and it was a close-run thing.

Fiorentina to face Puskas Akademia

Puskas Akademia had won the first leg away to Armenian side Ararat-Armenia and took the lead at home too with a goal from Zsolt Nagy.

The visitors fought back and turned it around through Artur Serobyan and Hohvannes Harutyunyan, before Nagy equalised again.

Despite seeing Amos Nondi sent off at the 62nd minute, Ararat-Armenia restored their lead at the 85th minute through Jonathan Duarte, but it took a last-gasp strike from Artem Favorov to send Puskas Akademia through 4-3 on aggregate, 3-3 on the night.

Fiorentina reached the last two Finals of the Conference League, losing to West Ham United in 2023 and Olympiacos in 2024.
