Fiorentina defender German Pezzella is currently flying to Spain for his €3.5m plus bonuses transfer to Real Betis, meaning Nikola Milenkovic will stay with the Viola and Matija Nastasic arrives.

The Argentina international is reportedly taking a pay cut in order to make the move go through, from €2.4m per season to just €1.5m in a four-year contract.

Pezzella and agent Martin Guastadisegno were pictured in a private jet en route to Seville for the transfer.

There is a knock-on effect, as Pezzella’s departure means Milenkovic is no longer leaving, despite extended negotiations with West Ham United and then Tottenham Hotspur.

He is instead due to sign a new contract with Fiorentina, although it remains to be seen for how many years that deal will run.

Meanwhile, Nastasic will fly in today to complete his transfer from Schalke 04 for a minimal fee, a return to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, where he already played in 2011-12.
