Fiorentina director Joe Barone suggests Gennaro Gattuso didn’t convince Nikola Milenkovic to stay, but reveals La Viola are working to extend Dusan Vlahovic’s contract.

Both players have attracted interest from top Serie A clubs, including Inter, Juventus and Milan.

Milenkovic will see his contract expire in 2022 and both the Nerazzurri and the Old Lady have been linked with securing his services.

Barone provided updates on the future of both players replying to fans’ questions on Instagram.

“Milenkovic is an important player to us. He played some great games, he has one year remaining in his contract and we hope he can sign an extension,” Barone said.

“However, we must consider Nikola’s ambitions. He spoke to Gattuso and after four years together we’ll evaluate the offers if we’ll receive some.”

Vlahovic, scorer of 21 goals in 37 Serie A games in 2020-21 has been linked with Roma, Milan and Juventus.

“He is an important player for Fiorentina, he has two years in his contract and is in love with Florence,” Barone ensured.

“We are working on his contract extension, we will do everything to achieve our target, but he still has two years left on his contract.”
