Fiorentina have once again denied that sporting director Pantaleo Corvino’s future at the club is up for debate.

Corvino has been in Florence since 2005 and has reportedly recently been offered a three-year extension on his current Viola contract that expires in the summer.

However, reports are still surfacing that the club are unhappy with his performance and are considering making a change. Corvino’s recent work has been criticised, with the January transfer market providing the latest examples as to why.

Summer signing Santiago Silva ended a brief and unsuccessful six-month spell, Angelo Palombo reportedly turned down a chance to join the club, whilst attempts to bring in Ajax forward Mounir El Hamdaoui on deadline day collapsed at the last minute.

Viola managing director Sandro Mencucci, though, insists that faith remains in Corvino to continue with the Florence outfit.

“We’re not thinking of a Fiorentina without Corvino. I believe this bitterness stems from the outcome of recent market events, in fact, things have happened that we have never seen before.

“Anyway, about Corvino I feel calm, I’m sure it will all work out once the echoes from the transfer market have gone.”
