Fiorentina are making an approach for Real Betis and USMNT midfielder Johnny Cardoso, claim Sky Sport Italia.

The American also has an Italian passport, which would allow him to register in Serie A as an EU player and not take up a precious slot.

Cardoso had also been linked with Juventus and Roma, but Fiorentina seem to now be pushing for the player to join them this summer.

He turns 23 in September and only joined Real Betis in January 2024 for €6m from Brazilian Internacional.

Despite that relatively low figure, the Spanish club is asking for €25m to let him leave and that could make it a tricky purchase for the Viola.

Who is Fiorentina target Cardoso?

Cardoso already has 15 senior caps for the USMNT under his belt and has made 19 appearances for Real Betis, scoring one goal and contributing two assists.

He was born in New Jersey to Brazilian parents, but the whole family returned home when he was only three months old, so he grew up playing in Brazil for Internacional.
