Giovani Lo Celso, who was linked with both Fiorentina and Lazio this summer, is reportedly set to join Villarreal on loan from Tottenham.
The 26-year-old Argentinian midfielder failed to convince Antonio Conte last season and was sent to Villarreal on loan in the January transfer window. Lo Celso impressed during his time in Spain and a return made sense this summer after Conte’s position stayed the same.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Lo Celso is now on the verge of completing a return to Villarreal and his departure to Spain has already been scheduled. He’s expected to arrive later this evening to join his new teammates.
Lo Celso is joining Villarreal on a loan deal with a buy option attached, forcing both Fiorentina and Lazio to look elsewhere for a midfield reinforcement. The Viola’s interest has never been hidden and Corriere dello Sport suggested this week that the Biancocelesti were also considering a move.
