Fiorentina’s coaching situation remains open after the club decided not to proceed with the appointment of Roberto D’Aversa, despite a verbal agreement reportedly reached in recent days.
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto reported via X that the Viola hierarchy have now placed the deal on hold and opted against finalising D’Aversa’s arrival.
“Fiorentina have decided not to continue with the D’Aversa option,” wrote Moretto.

“The club had put the solution on standby despite a verbal agreement. Paolo Vanoli is now in contention, while the squad is pushing hard for the return of Raffaele Palladino.”
Fiorentina team push for Palladino return
There is growing support within the dressing room for Palladino, who left the club at the end of last season after a turbulent campaign and pressure from the fans.
His potential comeback, however, would require a significant change of stance from owner Rocco Commisso, who has so far resisted revisiting that option.

Vanoli remains another candidate under consideration as Fiorentina aim to stabilise the situation following Stefano Pioli’s dismissal.
