Milan are finally getting close to a breakthrough in talks with Monaco for sought-after midfielder Youssouf Fofana following the latest offer increase from the Rossoneri camp.

Paulo Fonseca’s side have been pursuing a deal for the France international for most of the summer transfer window, but they have had to contend with interest from the likes of Manchester United, West Ham and Atletico Madrid.

As the player is into the final year of his contract, the Rossoneri have been confident that they will be able to get a cut-price deal for the 25-year-old, ideally around the €20m mark.

However, once a mini-bidding war between a handful of Europe’s top clubs became a possibility, Monaco set the asking price at around €35m, according to recent reports.

Fofana: Latest Milan offer starting to convince Monaco

As of Wednesday night, Milan have lodged an offer for Fofana at the price of €20m plus an additional €5m in bonuses, as per Sky Sport Italia.

Monaco are now weighing up the improved offer, and if it does satisfy the club and its directors, they could finally give the all-clear to Fofana’s move to Milan.

TMW add that Milan hope to have a deal fully wrapped up by the beginning of next week, while La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Fofana ‘can’t wait’ to join the Rossoneri.
