Figures behind Juventus’ quest for Koulibaly

Juventus met with Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent Fali Ramadani today to confirm their interest in a deal for the Napoli centre back, crafting an initial offer.

The 31-year-old Senegalese defender’s current contract with the Partenopei is set to expire next year and an agreement has been reached regarding a renewal due to president Aurelio De Laurentiis’ desire to cut the wage bill. Koulibaly has been with Napoli since 2014 and enjoys living in the city, but the behaviour of De Laurentiis could push him away this summer.

As reported by Romeo Agresti, Juventus are ready to offer Napoli €30m for Koulibaly, who they’d be willing to pay around €6m net per season. It’s still unclear whether the player is open to the move to Turin or not.

The Bianconeri are preparing for the possible departure of Matthijs de Ligt and it’s a clear a defensive reinforcement is needed regardless following Giorgio Chiellini’s move to the MLS.
