According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the FIGC is pushing to get Serie A and Serie B players vaccinated by the beginning of the season.
The 2021-22 campaign begins on August 21 in Serie B, one day before Serie A starts. By that time, the Italian football federation wants to get all Serie A and Serie B players vaccinated, reports the Rome-based paper.
A few Serie A clubs (Roma, Sampdoria and Fiorentina) have already begun vaccinations. Lazio are considering doing so, while many other clubs are waiting for a decision from the FIGC.
Some players were vaccinated while on international duty earlier this summer.
Roberto Mancini’s Italy is an example of that as all the Azzurri got their first hab before the beginning of UEFA Euro 2020.
According to the report, however, the FIGC is concerned as the vaccinated players are not as much as those who haven’t received at least one does of COVID vaccine yet.

According to the report, the Italian football federation is pushing to make vaccination mandatory to prevent the spread of new cases and the possible postponement of games during the season.
At the moment, there’s an ongoing COVID outbreak at Spezia where 10 players and a team member tested positive. Thiago Motta’s players are only allowed to train individually at the moment.
