The FIGC has announced that it will investigate the racial abuse suffered by Inter striker Romelu Lukaku at the hands of Cagliari fans.

Cagliari supporters made monkey noises as Lukaku went up to take a penalty during Inter’s 2-1 win in Sardinia on Sunday evening.

Now, the FIGC’s Giudice Sportivo has confirmed that it will look into the incident, requesting information from those in charge of public order at the Sardegna Arena.

Last season, the FIGC did not punish the Rossoblu for racially abusing Moise Kean as their fans' monkey chants had ‘an objectively limited relevance’.

It also took the federation more than a month to reach a verdict.

Elsewhere, Sampdoria midfielder Ronaldo Vieira has been given a one-match ban for his red card against Sassuolo.
