FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio has led calls for the introduction of goal-line technology in Italian football, and has previously stated that its introduction would only cost around €4m.

ANSA reports that the federal council has unanimously agreed to give Michele Uva the power to set up a small working group to investigate the feasibility of introducing the new system.

“The FIGC has the objective of having technology into the calendar in time for next season,” the news organisation quotes Tavecchio as saying.

“The costs will be borne by the clubs.”

A goal decision system is already in place in the English Premier League, and was used in the 2014 World Cup with Goal Control and Hawk-Eye the leading systems for such technology.
