FIGC President Giancarlo Abete laughed off reports Juventus could call in Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli. “I never worried about that.”

There were strong rumours that Prandelli could be hired as the replacement for Antonio Conte, who could receive a 10-month ban in the betting trial this week.

“I never worried about that,” smiled Federation chief Abete.

“We know Prandelli would prefer to work on a day-to-day basis with players, but together we set out a medium to long-term project.

“After Euro 2012 we must continue that work in the direction we started.”

Conte’s ban will mean he cannot sit on the bench or in the locker room on match day, but he will still be able to take control of day-to-day training.
