The confrontation between the Milan supporters in the stands at San Siro and Stefano Pioli and his players after the 2-0 loss to Spezia on Sunday afternoon is being examined by the prosecutor of the FIGC according to ANSA reports.

The Italian federation has a rule in its sports justice code that prohibits the more extreme end of supporter groups from making threats to the players on the pitch.

Pioli and his players had a lengthy discussion with the tifosi behind the goal after the final whistle against Spezia, before heading towards the tunnel to applause from the stands.

On social media, the official Milan accounts have reminded spectators that the club and its supporters are: “Together, through thick and thin.”

According to Gazzetta, only one capo spoke during the conversation, and the Rossoneri players limited themselves to just listening.

Speaking after the ordeal, Pioli confirmed that he thought the interaction was: “a positive thing.” He continued: “We went to greet them as we always do. They spurred us on to give our best.”

Milan will be hoping to right their recent wrongs on the pitch when they line up against Inter for the second leg of the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night, when they will require a strong performance to overturn the two-goal deficit suffered in the first game of the tie on Wednesday.
