FIGC President Gabriele Gravina says the Italian federation is considering legal action against the Azzurri’s former coach Roberto Mancini.

Gravina spoke after a Federal Council Meeting on Thursday.

“The Council has tasked a professional with providing a legal technical opinion to understand if it’s possible to get compensation,” said Gravina, as quoted by Repubblica.

Gravina added that the Council will discuss the further steps after the opinion provided by the professional hired by FIGC.

Mancini suddenly stepped down as Italy coach in August, signing with Saudi Arabia only a few weeks later.

The ex-Italy boss has explained that leaving the Azzurri was unrelated to Saudi Arabia’s offer suggesting that some decisions taken from Gravina, especially regarding his staff, led to his resignations.

Now the FIGC want to investigate whether they can claim damage for Mancini’s sudden exit.

Gravina crossed paths with Mancini in Rome on Wednesday night during the Ryder’s Cup Gala Dinner.

“I greeted Mancini when I met him yesterday because respect and education are key values in sports,” concluded the FIGC President.

  1. Mancini left for the money! I guess the Federation does not pay enough. Sad state of affairs. No one cares about the national team shirt!
