The FIFA The Best Award took place last night with three Italian players, Gigio Donnarumma, Leonardo Bonucci and Jorginho, included in the Team of The Year.
However, the PSG shot-stopper lost the Best Goalkeeper Of The Year Award to Edouard Mendy, while Thomas Tuchel beat Roberto Mancini to winning the Coach Of The Year.
The best male and female players and coaches of 2021 were chosen by an expert panel as well as the national teams’ captains and coaches who picked three names for each category.
The first place was worth 5 points, the second one 3 and the third one 1.

Italy CT Roberto Mancini picked Jorginho, Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappé for the Player of the Year and chose Antonio Conte, Diego Simeone and Lionel Scaloni for the coach of the Year.
Italy Captain Giorgio Chiellini chose Jorginho, Robert Lewandowski and N’Golo Kante among the players, Roberto Mancini, Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte for the best coaches.
Former Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo, who received the FIFA Special Award as the best goalscorer in the history of FIFA competitions, named Roberto Mancini as the best coach of 2021, followed by Thomas Tuchel and Lionel Scaloni.
The Portuguese star picked Robert Lewandowski, Ngolo Kante and Jorginho as the best players of 2021.
Oddly, Portugal coach Fernando Santos snubbed CR7 from the best three players of last year picking Kante, Jorginho and Lewandowski.
