Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero reveals Roberto D’Aversa wants a new winger and insists the Blucerchiat won’t sell their stars, including Mikkel Damsgaard.

Ferrero provided updates about the club’s transfer strategies in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.

“Sampdoria deserve an important season and we’ll keep out players,” the 70-year-old said.

Denmark midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard is reportedly among the most wanted players in Europe after his performances during UEFA Euro 2020, but Sampdoria won’t accept offers below €40m.

Ferrero insisted Samp will keep hold of their best players and revealed the club’s priority target this summer.

“D’Aversa wants a top winger and Ferrero will give it to him,” Ferrero revealed.

D’Aversa replaced Claudio Ranieri at the Stadio Ferraris after the former Leicester City boss had managed a top-10 finish in 2020-21 with 52 points in Serie A.
